The bar chart above describes the different categories of
cases which have been processed by Crow Court in the UK from 1996 to 2002. It is
clear that the number of all three kinds of cases were increased over this
period of time.
There was a dramatic increase in the number of committals for
trial type of cases, whose pattern was approximately 20000 growths every two
years. After six-year period of time, the number of appeals that from
magistrates against conviction or sentence were tripled, that raised from
nearly 20000 to about 40000. There was increase took place in the number of the
cases that committals for sentence at a slow raising rate.
According to the chart, although the significant increases
were shown in all three categories, the number of committals cases which were
done for trial in the Grown Court maintained its largest proportion among other
cases over these six years.
