[译者按] W.W.雅各布斯（1863～1943）,英国小说家.1863年生于伦敦,是家中的长子.母亲在他小时候去世,父亲在伦敦码头工作.他从私立学校毕业,后来进入伯克拜克大学.1883年起,在邮局储蓄所工作.1885年初次发表短篇小说,1896年出版第一部短篇小说集.1899年辞去邮局职务,专事写作,次年结婚.他是多产的小说家,写过大量讽刺小说和恐怖小说.他最著名的恐怖小说是《猴爪》（1901）,曾被多次改编为电影和剧本,斯蒂芬·金小说《宠物公墓》深受其影响.
应指上面的两个猴手。
